Mathematics: Problem Solving

We had an extra math lesson today and it was our first attempt at group problem solving! The problem was:

"Miss Pliura needs 10 cupcakes for the class. How many cupcakes are vanilla? How many cupcakes are chocolate?"

We were excited to see how students would answer, and if they could come up with more than one way to make 10!

We were really impressed with some of the strategies that students used to show 10, especially since this was something new to us! Afterwards, we came back to the carpet and talked about how many cupcakes could have been vanilla, and how many could have been chocolate. We can't wait to do more problem solving in the near future!!
