Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is well.. I know a couple of you are sick :( There must be something going around. Now that I am flu-free, I finally have the energy to type away again ;) Here are some updates from last week!
A Visit from the Bulldogs!
We were so lucky to have 2 players from the Hamilton Bulldogs, and Bruiser the mascot visit our school!! The players read a book to us and Bruiser acted it out; the kids LOVED it!! He did a lot of dancing for us which led to lots of laughter :) We are so thankful to have had this experience.
All Aboard the Friendship: Sharing!
We're now on to learning about rule #2 on the Class Friendship: Sharing! We've been practising all year how to share and what it should look and sound like, but it never hurts to pay some extra special attention to it. We started off reading a story, "Why Should I Share?". We learned about different reasons why sharing is important, such as keeping your friends and making them (and yourself) feel happy.
We then did a small activity to demonstrate what it should look and sound like. I asked for 5 volunteers and gave them each a coloured marker. I asked them if they could draw a rainbow with their one colour of marker: of course not! We came up with ideas on how each member could get all the colours of the rainbow in their picture. Some students suggested that they go back into the marker bin to get the other colours ;), but finally we came up with the idea that we could use our words and ask our friends to borrow theirs.
It may not look like much, but what we saw was students using their words to ask for something and others reciprocating in a positive way. Yay!
Math Jam!
On Friday we got to go see Math Jam; a super fun performance that teaches us about math!
Important Reminders
- Please put all of your child's Valentines in alphabetical order- this will make it so much easier!
- If you are on this event's Treat Team, please remember to bring in nut-free snacks for our party. We have a lovely little boy who is severely allergic to them. Also, we have lots of left over juice boxes, so we got the drinks covered!
More to come soon :)
