Hope you all are well :) I was thinking a lot over the weekend on how to make this whole experience easy, manageable, and work for everyone. I've decided to do two different things (yay, differentiation!). I understand that this is going to look different for everyone at home, based on your current job situation, number of children, access to technology, etc.
We are waiting to hear when iPads and technology will be delivered to families. Once I know, I will let you know.
The Ministry has said for Kindergarten that a minimum of 5 hours a week should be done by students, so an hour a day for a 5 day school week (I will adjust this week due to the holiday). The focus should be literacy and math. However, Kindergarten is quite different than the other grades, so I will be adding a couple of different things :)
Choose your own adventure ;) aka choose what works best for you! Please don't stress. That's the last thing we all need right now.
1. Learn At Your Own Pace Weekly Schedule:
I will post a weekly schedule that the Kindergarten team has worked on. You can use this as a reference to get ideas, do as few or as many activities as you want, and do them at a time that's most convenient for you.
2. Follow the Daily Schedule:
This is if you're looking for something a bit more structured. I will post this every day so it's ready for you before 9 am. It will have more specific learning goals, videos, etc. You definitely don't have to follow the schedule and timing. Do it whenever you can.

I have started practice reading books with Aaryan and have done recording as well so that you know where he struggles with his speech and learning.
Just for your knowledge and what I noticed Aaryan struggled with one book "OUT" so far it has 4-words, I practiced with him 5 times before he reads independently but still noticed Aaryan struggling.
Any strategies you would recommend ? No rush, I know you must be extremely busy with setting up and organizing work for all students but you can respond me whenever you will have some time.
Thank you and appreciate all the work you are doing so that students stay in touch with their learning.

I've looked at this book, and I would describe it as a pattern book, which means every page starts with the same 3 words, and then the last word changes. For a book like this, I would start by reading the first 2 pages to him so he can pick up on the pattern. Remind him that for the last word, he needs to look at the first letter, make that sound, and look at the picture and see what makes that sound. I would keep practising reading books everyday, and it sounds like he needs to work on his sight words. I will do a blog post on this for everyone, since I think a couple other of students need help with this as well. Read this book with him everyday. If he is still struggling to remember the words, even after you've read a page or two with him, then we can chat on the phone.
