Mathematics: Play Molly Adds Up to 10! Remember to count on from the highest number to make it go faster (or start from 1, that's okay too!).
I have sent audio messages to all the students who recorded their reading this week on raz kids. I'm so impressed with them all! I really like giving feedback and find that this is a perfect way to connect academically, so feel free to record as many books as you want and I will keep responding with feedback :)
Something different for today! We (my "former" student teacher Miss Spring and I) were planning on doing an underwater themed unit in our class (we even started to decorate and get activities ready :(), and then all of this nonsense happened! So Mrs. Barber made us an underwater themed choice board for you to explore! A big thanks to her for putting this together!
There's literacy and math embedded into these activities, but if you're looking for additional activities, reading a book to your child, having them read one, practice printing letters/numbers, etc. is good! I will be working on report cards today, but if you need anything just e-mail me, I'll be around! :)

Remember, we use "eye words" in our classroom to help us. Sight words are tricky because for the most part, you can't sound them out! You can download the eyewords PDF Here. I like to use them as flash cards or practice making a sentence out of them :)
Mathematics: The reason we work on subitizing so much is because it lends itself to addition. When we're adding, we aren't adding numerals... we're adding quantities. Students can see the quantity and count on. Stefan is a subitizing expert! Once they understand how to, you can hold up two plates. They start with the biggest number and then count on, and guess what, that's adding! No numerals, addition signs or equal signs involved. This is the important piece. Writing it down is just the representation :)
Watch some of our favourite subitizing videos, or make some subitizing plates or flashcards with markers or stickers!
Literacy: Watch Miss Pliura read the story "My Mouth is a Volcano"! Was there ever a time you interrupted that you can remember? What did the story tell you to do when you feel like talking right away? Why is it important to wait your turn?
Practice printing your upper and lower case letters :)
Mathematics: Participate in my video using my number rack! This is just like we do in our morning routine.

Literacy: Read 1-2 books on Raz Kids and record yourself reading it. I will be checking everyday this week and responding with feedback. I will record an audio message so they can hear :)

Mathematics: Practice your sorting and counting on this cute game from abcya.com! If you can subitize the total number of fuzz bugs, make sure you do that! If not, count everyone, remember where you started from!
Gatestone families will have school access on Thursday, June 4 from 2-7:30PM and Friday, June 5 from 9AM-2:30PM to retrieve student belongings. Families will need to sign up in 15 minute time slots to respect physical distancing.
On our Gatestone Website there is a page parents can click on - "Family Access Booking Calendar". Here parents/guardians can select their child's homeroom teacher and book one of the available 15minute time slots. Booking a time slot will be available for families starting Tuesday, June 2 at 8AM.
If a student needs to return a resource (e.g., library book, uniform), there will be a table in the main foyer to drop off school items. Please let families know we are not collecting devices at this time as online learning is still continuing until the end of June.
Parents: I have packaged everything up into bags. Your child's bag is in their cubby as soon as you walk into the classroom, you can't miss it. Everything is in there (spare clothes, shoes, journals, etc.). I have added printing practice sheets for all the JKs... SKs already have them in a duotang. I respectfully ask that you please don't touch anything else in the classroom. You don't have to go in... I will make sure your stuff gets to you eventually! But it's there if you want it :) I will not be there.
