Wednesday April 15th

Hi families,

You will need to watch this video so you understand what to do for today's literacy activity.

A brief summary:

- Segmenting means to break a word up into it's smallest sounds
- CVC words stand for consonant, vowel, consonant
- Vowels are A,E,I,OU, consonants are the rest!

Here's a list of CVC words you can use:

cat, wet, hot, cut, pop, jet, tip, pad, wag, sat, gap, can, leg, jog

Avoid using words with the "an" sound. This can get confusing for them, as "an" can't really be broken up. If that's too easy, have them connect the sounds to letters in the alphabet. Or ask them questions like, "What's the middle sound in that word?", or "In the word "leg", where is the /e/ sound?"
