About Miss Pliura

Miss Pliura - Teacher

I am a Kindergarten Teacher at Gatestone Elementary in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. I have been teaching Kindergarten for the past 5 years.

I completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies from Brock University in 2008. I went on to complete a Bachelor of Education degree from Charles Sturt University in 2009. I have basic qualifications in Primary and Junior Education. I have Additional Qualifications in Kindergarten, Special Education (Part 1), Primary Education (Part 1), Reading (Part 1) and Primary/Junior Mathematics (Part 1). 

I started teaching in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board in September of 2010. I have classroom experience in Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 4, as well as Junior/Intermediate Special Education. I've also worked as a Literacy Support Teacher where I administered Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) to students and worked alongside classroom teachers, Learning Resource Teachers, and Instructional Coaches to improve Literacy skills among Primary and Junior students.

I consider myself very fortunate to be teaching at such an amazing school. I have been teaching at Gatestone since September 2010 :) I am very passionate about what I do and I am always trying to improve my practice. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and traveling :)
