General Happenings: GryphFUN

GryphFUN is a school wide initiative that promotes a positive culture within the building. This week, our class started setting a daily goal. Each day, students help us pick a goal to work toward. Based on our day, we have the students do a self reflection and decide whether they think they achieved their goal for the day. If they achieved their goal, we put a heart in our 10 frame. When we reach 10 hearts we will have a class celebration that the students have voted on. Also when we have filled our chart, we let the office know so they can add our name to the school achievement chart in the office. When that chart reaches a certain number we will have a school wide celebration. This month, our class is working toward having a "Bring Your Stuffie to School" day. We will keep you posted when we reach our goal! Stay Tuned!

General Happenings: Weekly Art

Every week we do a different craft or act activity. This gives children the opportunity to explore different art mediums and learn how to practice different techniques. Sometimes its just fun to get messy and explore! Stay tuned for more pics of our creations. Student work will be sent home most weeks although sometimes we keep a few to hang up and show off in our classroom😉

This week students chose whether they wanted to make Indian Corn or Autumn Trees. Children used Duplo Lego to stamp their corn cob or made a hand print and used their fingers to paint fall coloured leaves on their tree.

General Happenings: Morning Routines

Every day we are practicing doing our 5 jobs. Most of the time everyone does them all without reminders. This week, we started our Morning Carpet Routine. Every morning, we sing our good morning song 'Rise and Shine' and go over our daily picture schedule. We have a clothes peg that the V.I.P moves along the schedule as we go through the day, that way when the students look at the schedule, they know where we are at in our day and what is coming next.

We also started our V.I.P program this week. Miss Pliura demonstrated what our V.I.P will be doing each day. Every student will get the chance to be V.I.P for a week. You will receive a V.I.P package the Friday before their week. Their name will also be listed on our monthly calendar. 

General Happenings: Week 2 Pictures!

This week we learned how to play with some new learning centres! We are practicing counting how many people are at one centre before joining. We are problem solving and taking turns using new materials and toys. We opened the 8 shelf (cars, train set and dinosaurs), dramatic play and the creative centre! Be ready for lots of crafty creations to come home:)

In gym we learn and practice new skills. We always stretch our bodies before playing. This week we practiced throwing, catching and bouncing balls.
